I’ve had a love for all things beauty for as long as I can remember!
My nature is that of a crazy researcher! I love to read, learn, attend classes and school! I guess you could say I’m a beauty nerd!
I’ve gone to school for makeup artistry, developed a hair extension brand, developed a makeup line, taken classes in hair loss, and taught yoga and meditation all because I just can’t get enough! However, I didn’t want to limit myself to just one area of beauty and just products that I was developing.
For years my friends and acquaintances had sought out my advice on the latest trends, products, and treatments, and I loved it because I love talking about all things inner and outer beauty!
I’m that girl that tries everything! If you mention a new facial I’ll ask when I can get in for an appointment to try it! Beauty conventions where they roll out all the newest in beauty… that’s like Christmas morning!
I love writing beauty blogs and sharing my knowledge and I believe that my enthusiasm is palpable. I am so excited to share my knowledge and love for all things beauty with all the High Maintenance Females in the world!

...and I never really understood why people view that as a bad thing. I was always proud of my high standards and enjoyed taking care of myself, feeling my best self, and putting my best foot forward out in the world. I never took it too seriously and just enjoy being "extra." I even became known amongst friends and friends of friends for always knowing about the latest and greatest in beauty products and treatments, and I love filling that role. So my blog, The Original HMF is just the conversations I've been having with friends for years on a bigger scale, so I can share my love of all things High Maintenance Female with more people and make more friends!

I do crazy, outrageous, over-the-top, silly, ridiculous things and because of my self-confidence I’m not only okay with it, I don’t care what anyone else thinks about it. I may look well put together on the outside and enjoy all the pretty things, but I don’t take myself too seriously.
My happiness comes from within and my inner peace is well earned. The most important thing to me is to be a good person, help others, be happy, enjoy life, have peace, be present, and work every single day, so I can be a better version of myself tomorrow. So all the other fun and sparkly, pink luxuries are just icing on the cake of life.

I have a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Communications Journalism, which I sadly was not using while teaching elementary special education, that is until I had my first baby. Once my first child was born, I realized I did not want to lose who I was and probably went a little overboard with the hair and makeup for mommy and me classes, but it made me feel better in a time where I was trying to figure out my new role in life. That is when I started writing a beauty blog targeted to new moms, who were looking for simple and easy ways to look and feel like their beautiful selves! I wanted to give new moms the opportunity to have a sense of community and options for ways to make them feel good about themselves because they do not feel their best self the first year after having a baby.
I have spent the last few years sourcing and developing my hair extension and beauty brand. While I love everything about the hair and the beauty industry, I decided that I did not enjoy the actual sales side and delivery end of my business. I loved talking and teaching people about the products. I loved writing about them, but I never wanted anyone to feel overly pressured, I just wanted to give them a great option for their hair extension and beauty needs that I felt was missing in the market.
