I Think the Universe Wants Us to Slow Down

Wow, what a world we live in! Who would have thought we would be sitting in our homes in isolation for 30 days or more. Not me, but I’m fully embracing it. I personally had been trying for months to eliminate appointments from my schedule. I had painstakingly rearranged things to try to get just one day at home a week while the kids were at school to fully devote themselves to working and not running around. I think it happened once.

So to be forced to sit at home and not be able to go anywhere became a blessing, though a scary one. I have spent my life running around crazy, adding activities, appointments, certification programs, etc. to my and my family’s schedules. We are rarely ever home, I leave my house most days at 7:30am and we don’t return home until after 5:00pm more days than not.  When my oldest was 2 yrs old I would pick him up from school and he would ask me what are we doing today mommy. He too didn’t know what it was like to be at home.

So when COVID -19 hit and we were told things were closing I ate out at restaurants every night because we didn’t know which one would be the last one for the foreseeable future. When Bloomingdales and Nordstrom at our mall shut down, I thought the world must be ending. But guess what, it didn’t.

I have 100% replaced my nonstop lifestyle with a more relaxed one. We wear sweats all day, we have day pajamas and night pajamas. We swim in the pool, we eat not on a schedule, but when we are hungry. We swim in the pool, we fish, we swing on the swing set, and we all get our work done. Whether it is my husband and I running our respective businesses or our kids doing virtual school. We are together, happy, and healthy. This is exactly what I needed and maybe the rest of the world also.

I think we have all had a shift in perspective because of this. If you change your perspective and see this as an opportunity instead of an inconvenience, it’s pretty enjoyable.

Yes, my business has suffered, no one wants hair extensions without a stylist to install them, but that’s ok! It’s given me time to expand and adjust. It has given me the space to get to know clients and for them to get to know me. It’s given me a chance to catch up on everything that I never have time for and to expand out of a hair extension brand and into a lifestyle brand which has always been my dream. It has also given me the opportunity to not work at all if I don’t feel like it on any given day because it has given me the gift of time.

I have so missed getting dressed in “real” clothes, putting on makeup, getting my hair blown out, but in due time all that will return, and we’ll be overall that again in no time.

So let’s all be grateful for the break from our very high maintenance lifestyle because before we know it, it will be time to run to all our appointments and obligations again.

I hope everyone can hop on my bandwagon and enjoy their vacation from their obligations as much as I am!

Peace, love, and rest!

Xx,
